We look for ways to maximize comfort and minimize fuss, so there’s a seamless transition between activities, without needing to shift gears, alter routines, or struggle with compromises. We make it easier to get outside. We strive to saturate your outdoor experiences with a sense of freedom. Clean, functional language and images strip away unnecessary information. We want you to be able to just forge ahead and explore without distraction, without struggling to figure out a better way to do something while you’re there. Our aim is to provide immersive outdoor rec educational tools that drive enthusiasm, not just for the sport, but also for the places that make it possible.
Lichen and Ice is a platform for self-propelled adventure. We’re here as passionate advocates for the sport, and for the places it happens. The backcountry is our gym, church, and life-support system. It isn’t enough to promote the sports. We can’t just drive increased participation. We have to practice and encourage dedication to sustainability. We have to be stewards of the wild places that help us thrive.
This isn’t an abstract thing for us. It isn’t altruistic, or a feel-good vibe. It’s pragmatic, palpable, and applied. The reality is that life on earth will adapt to whatever devastation humanity wreaks: It’s not about “saving the environment,” it’s about saving ourselves. One of our goals is to help you make sure that happens… so you can keep turning to those trails and waterways for generations of re-creation.
